On September 3rd 1967 all Swedish drivers had to change the habits of decades, and swap to driving on the right-hand side of the road. It brought them into line with most of the rest of Europe (except of course for Britain and Ireland) but caused a day of chaos. In the summer of 1978 a British woman, Janet Parker, became the last known victim of the deadly virus smallpox.
