343: Our Midwest Golf Expedition - Five Days, Eight Rounds, and a Thousand Miles
Send us a textGolf trips aren't just about the courses—they're about the journey, the unexpected discoveries, and the stories you'll tell forever. Our recent expedition through America's heartland delivered all this and more as we ventured through South Dakota, Nebraska, and Iowa to play some of the most talked-about new courses in golf. The adventure took us from Dakota Dunes, where we attempted (and failed) to drive balls across the Missouri River, to the nearly mythical Landman Golf Club—perhaps the hardest public tee time to secure in America. Navigating dirt roads through endless cornfields, we discovered a golf course that encourages creativity above all else, where the infamous "Landman Bounce" had us aiming at seemingly absurd targets to let the land work its magic. We invented "Farm," a putting game that might become your new favorite way to spend time on the practice green with friends. Our journey continued to Tatanka on Native American land (complete with "ditch weed" growing throughout the property) and culminated at The Prairie Club, where the Pines and Dunes courses sparked heated debates about which deserved the higher ranking. Throughout it all, we encountered small-town America at its most authentic—from gas station treasures to our first taste of Runzas, the regional delicacy that had us stopping multiple times for more. With nearly 1,000 miles logged in five days and eight rounds played, this trip reminded us why golf travel creates memories that last a lifetime. What's your dream golf destination? Have you explored America's heartland courses? We'd love to hear about your own discoveries and adventures as we continue our endless pursuit of golf's hidden treasures.Support the showSpecial thank goes out to our show sponsors:?️‍♂️Garsen Grips - https://garsengolf.com And also our show supporters:⛳️ Las Vegas Golf Superstore - https://www.worldwidegolfshops.com/?️‍♂️ Rohrs Golf Co - https://rohrsgolf.com/

342: Where's the Triumph? Ryder Cup Selections and PGA Tour's Flawed Championship
Send us a textThe battle between season-long excellence and single-tournament dominance takes center stage as we dissect Tommy Fleetwood's Tour Championship victory and what it means for the FedEx Cup format. Should the player who excels all season (like Scottie Scheffler with five wins, including two majors) be properly recognized alongside the tournament champion? The current system, which essentially resets everything for one final event, continues to draw criticism from players and fans alike. The Ryder Cup team selections loom large with captain Keegan Bradley set to announce his picks tomorrow. We analyze the automatic qualifiers and potential captain's selections, making the case for who should represent Team USA against what appears to be a formidable European lineup. Some surprising names, like Colin Morikawa, might not deserve spots based on recent form, while others, like Sam Burns and Patrick Cantlay, could strengthen the American side despite some reservations.Meanwhile, LIV Golf continues to struggle with its television product and format. Despite drawing crowds in person, the confusing presentation with shotgun starts, unclear team elements, and disjointed coverage makes following the action difficult for viewers. As professional golf remains divided, we question whether the proposed merger will ever materialize, especially as the product quality gap between tours remains significant. On a more adventurous note, we preview our upcoming golf journey through Nebraska, South Dakota, and Iowa – highlighting how golf creates opportunities to explore parts of America you'd otherwise never visit. Courses like Landmannd, Tatanka, and Prairie Club represent hidden gems that transform ordinary locations into extraordinary experiences, showcasing the true spirit of golf discovery beyond the professional tours.Join us for this wide-ranging conversation about golf's present challenges and future possibilities, both on tour and in the heartland of America. 341: Play It Before It's Gone, The Disappearing Vegas Golf Landscape
Send us a textThe disappearing golf landscape of Las Vegas takes center stage as the hosts discuss the imminent closure of Desert Pines Golf Club. While opinions on the course vary dramatically—one host defends it passionately while others criticize its conditions—they all acknowledge the sobering reality that Las Vegas is losing yet another golf course. This loss reflects the broader challenges faced by desert golf courses struggling with water conservation requirements in an era of climate change.Southern Nevada's water conservation efforts, while necessary and impressively forward-thinking, have created a new reality for golf courses in the region. The hosts explore how this impacts course conditions, especially during the brutal summer months when temperatures consistently exceed 100 degrees. They call for understanding and patience from golfers who might be quick to criticize courses without knowing the challenges they face behind the scenes. The conversation shifts to national golf news, including Team USA's underwhelming Ralph Lauren Ryder Cup apparel, described as predictably nautical and unchanged from previous years. They speculate about rumors that Rory McIlroy might defect to LIV Golf, though they question whether LIV would be getting their money's worth now that Bryson DeChambeau has emerged as golf's YouTube star.Excitement builds as the hosts announce their official sponsorship with Garson Golf, offering listeners 15% off with code DAYLIGHT15. The episode includes a live wedge giveaway to a lucky viewer and wraps up with details about their upcoming Nebraska golf trip featuring courses like Landmand and Prairie Club.If you love golf in Las Vegas, don't wait to play the courses you've been putting off. As water restrictions tighten and development pressures increase, the golf landscape is changing rapidly. Once these courses are gone, they're gone forever.Support the showSpecial thank goes out to our show sponsors:?️‍♂️Garsen Grips - https://garsengolf.com And also our show supporters:⛳️ Las Vegas Golf Superstore - https://www.worldwidegolfshops.com/?️‍♂️ Rohrs Golf Co - https://rohrsgolf.com/

340: Play Free, Missing Your Tee Time Might Just Improve Your Game
Send us a textGolf is more than just a game – it's about showing up on time, adapting to changing environments, and sometimes finding your best swing when you least expect it. This week's episode begins with "Matt's Apology Tour," a hilarious recounting of tournament email mishaps that left Joe rushing to make his tee time. The unexpected twist? After arriving late and playing without pressure, Joe shot an impressive 81 despite two triple bogeys, revealing how "playing free" might be the secret mental approach many golfers need. The conversation shifts to the troubling transformation of Cascada Golf Course, where water restrictions have dramatically altered its identity. Once defined by beautiful waterfalls (hence the name), the course now features dry creek beds and dying palm trees. This opens a broader discussion about Las Vegas golf courses disappearing at an alarming rate, with each closure making tee times at remaining facilities harder to secure. The hosts emphasize how every golfer shares responsibility as part of the "grounds crew" to preserve what remains.Equipment talk dominates the middle segment, with putters taking center stage. From Garson Grips to the TaylorMade Spider ZT and Goodwood putters, the hosts dive deep into the personal preferences that make putter selection so unique. A moment of comic relief comes when they share photos of a friend's severely beaten Scotty Cameron, described colorfully as a "bean and cheese burrito" due to its worn appearance. The episode rounds out with professional golf discussions, including reflections on the Bandon Amateur tournament, debates about sponsor exemptions for PGA Tour elevated events, and the contrasting competitive approaches of Tiger Woods versus today's stars like Scottie Scheffler. Throughout it all runs a thread of genuine passion for golf and the camaraderie it creates, reminding listeners why this game connects us all.Whether you're a weekend warrior or a daily player, this episode captures the spirit of golf in all its frustrating, hilarious, and occasionally transcendent glory. Tune in every Tuesday at 8:30 PM Pacific for more golf talk that feels like a conversation with your best friends on the course.Support the showSpecial thank goes out to our show sponsors:?️‍♂️Garsen Grips - https://garsengolf.com And also our show supporters:⛳️ Las Vegas Golf Superstore - https://www.worldwidegolfshops.com/?️‍♂️ Rohrs Golf Co - https://rohrsgolf.com/
