Folge vom 16.08.201915: Las Vegas PGA Show Interviews - TRUE Linkswear, Dormie Workshop, Asher Golf, Greenside CigarsSend us a text Episode 15 PGA Show Interviews from Las Vegas This was fun, so much more than I thought it would be. I was a little nervous about how the audio would come out, but that’s is why you invest, heavily at times, in solid equipment! PGA Show, Vegas Style Every year in mid-August the PGA Show spends a couple of days here in Vegas. There’s been an evolution of this show and I feel like it is still trying to find its place in the industry. However, Sherry Major and her team are making great strides to have this show be something to attract buyers and sellers from all over. The fashion shoe at TAO nightclub I heard was amazing and I will not miss it next year, and the Demo night at TopGolf was the best it’s been in the three years it has been held there. I’m still not a fan of the balls you have to hit but, it is what it is. We had a blast walking the floor of the show at the Venitian and at the last minute, I decided to grab our audio recorder and bring it along. I’m so grateful I did. The audio came out great and we got some great content from several of our favorite brands. Folge vom 11.08.201914: Neal "Rohrs" Rohrbach from Strokes Gained PuttersSend us a textEpisode 14 - August 11th, 2019 - Neal “Rohrs” Rohrbach joins Matt and Ryan for some golf chat One thing I knew we were going to love about this podcast was when our friends get to join us. I consider Neal to be one of my closest friends, and it was a blast to have him on the show. You may recall, if you follow the blog, Neal has had one hell of a year. Back in February, we published an article that Neal had written [Strokes Gained; The Story of My Iceberg] and it was meet with tremendous support. Now, however, Neal is back on track and firing up the machines once again. As he gets back to doing what he loves, some much, we honored, he took some time to chat with us. Making Putters and putting smiles on the faces of his customers In this episode, we learned something that was a complete surprise to both of us. Neal started Strokes Gained to fill the void Cameron left behind when he stopped using Carbon Steel. There was a significant enough demand from golfers who still love the soft feel, and the custom finishings. Neal was eager to fill their needs. Take those wants and desires and place them with Neals passion and history in the industry, and you have a winning combination. It was a blast getting Rohrs on the phone and let him let it loose on the golf industry. Giving him a format to drop quotes like: “You know I’m gaming an EvnRoll” made the entire interview priceless. Folge vom 05.08.201913: John Billin from AmpcaddySend us a textEpisode 13 - August 5th, 2019 -The Ampcaddy Bluetooth Speaker We are all familiar with the popular trend happening in the golf world. Music on the course. While some find it utterly obtrusive and unacceptable, there is a growing number of golfers who love the concept of music on the course. Please don’t think we are advocating the jerks out there who blast the music disrupting everyone around them. There’s a level of civility that needs to be maintained if you enjoy playing your music playlist while golfing. For the most part, the people we have encountered who play music have been respectful and understand this trend is something that needs to be cared for as it matures. You’re not going to change the golfing world by being a pompous ass and forcing your way into the game. Meet John, the man behind the birth of Ampcaddy John has a great story of how he came to be a player in this music on the course niche. In this episode, John joined Matt for some candid behind the scenes information on how Ampcaddy started, and what the future holds for them. Music on the course is a love it or hate it type of experience. John has some fantastic insight into the golf speaker space. He shared with us how he got started with Ampcaddy, his background with golf, and why he has the knowledge to grow this business. With the good, there comes some bad Unfortunately, there was some lousy press thrown in the direction of Ampcaddy. We thought it would be an excellent opportunity for John to share his thoughts on what happened with MyGolfSpy. We let him explain why he feels they could be doing so much more with the platform they have. If you’re looking for a hate speech on why MyGolfSpy is an awful company, don’t listen. John is very respectful and made it clear he has more things to concern himself with than some social media posts. He has a reputable company that is producing a fantastic product that is only getting better with time. When you take into consideration his background in golf and the audio industry, we hope you’ll get a better understanding of how poor a decision it was for MyGolfSpy to attack them. Folge vom 29.07.201912: Travis Miller, otherwise know as PGAMemesSend us a textEpisode 12 - July 29th, 2019 -The hilarious PGA Memes We did it! Our first milestone for the Chasing Daylight Podcast, our twelfth episode. What better way to toast this occasion than having one of the hottest Instagram Golf Accounts join us for an interview. Travis, the man behind the madness at @pgamemes, hopped on the phone and gave us a little insight into what started the wildly popular account and what’s it’s like running the page. PGA Memes is an account worth following If you’re not following PGA Memes, do yourself a favor and go follow. Ryan and I both agree the content is hilarious. Most of the time the jabs they put on the Tour guys are exactly what we all are thinking. Travis has a unique sense of humor. He has brilliantly been able to use it grow the account to almost 400,000 followers. That’s just insane to us. It has been incredible to watch the growth on the account and to see the interactions from his following. You want to talk about building a community. However, pgamemes isn’t the only account for Travis We’ve all seen the videos, and some of us, mainly Ryan, have been “pranked” by SirHissalot. The wildly entertaining account @hissalot is another brainchild of Travis. It started back in 2014 and has grown to be an account where he doesn’t even need to create content anymore. Fans of the page are consistently sending in videos. Travis let us know he’s planning a revamping of the account and has some plans for 2020 to make it even better than it is now. We can’t wait to see that. View this post on Instagram A post shared by ♛ Sir Hissalot ♛ (@hissalot) on Aug 19, 2018, at 10:15am PDT Ryan’s Easter Eggs It just wouldn’t be an episode if Ryan didn’t have something to give away. Since pgamemes is partnering with ShortPar4 and has some shirts for sale on their site, we thought it would be fun to give away a ShortPar4 hat. Here’s all you need to do….. Listen to the episode and find out! There’s a hint in this post and a link that will assist, but you have to listen to figure out what to do!
