Two Podcasts in just 4 days - you lucky devils, you! Yes, after Saints took the decision to sack Mauricio Pellegrino (eventually!), Mark Hughes was installed as the new Southampton manager until the end of the season. Ben Stanfield (host), Adam Leitch (Chief Sports Writer, Daily Echo) and Steve Grant (SaintsWeb) get together to discuss Pellegrino out/Mark Hughes in - and whether a 'bounce effect' can now save the Club in the final stretch of games this season. Alongside that Greg Baker, Head of Saints Foundation, talks about the upcoming SeaCity Museum Exhibition that the Club are running - which charts much of the history of Saints since they formed in 1885. Finally there is another chance to hear our previous recording with Wigan Athletic fan Barry Worthington - host of Progress with Unity Podcast - ahead of this weekend's FA Cup Quarter-Final. Few words can really do justice in trying to explain how bad Saints were at Newcastle. From ‘number 1 to number 11’ it was simply shambolic and effortless. They let the entire Football Club down and, with pressure already building, may well have assisted in another Premier League manager being given his P45. Whether that does happen or not, only time were tell. In Total Saints Podcast Episode 28, Adam Leitch (Chief Sports Writer at the Daily Echo) joins Ben Stanfield (Host), to give a very honest assessment of what he saw at St. James Park – and it wasn’t pretty! Games are rapidly running out for Saints but, despite only 1 win in 17 Premier League games now, they remarkably still find themselves outside the relegation zone. Consistent. A word synonymous with Saints this season for generally the wrong reasons. Consistently poor and unentertaining performances, generally rewarded with little (or few) Premier League points. Well, they were at it again this weekend with a rather drab 0-0 St Mary’s performance against Stoke. Ben Stanfield (host) and Adam Leitch (Chief Sports Writer, Southern Daily Echo) attempt to pull out some of the key talking points from the game and make them sound a lot more positive and interesting than they really were. Alongside that, the two of them discuss whether Saints should consider themselves lucky that there haven’t been more signs of discontent from the fanbase at a truly woeful season, as well as whether they’ve misplaced the ‘local/family Club feel’ that they have always prided themselves on, in search of an improved global branding.
